The Magnetic nano-particles are also called MNP. And the size of MNPs we chose is about 100nm in diameter and 15nm in height. The ideal shape is a cyclinder. As we can see in the SEM figure, the shape in reality looks more like a pie. Before annealing, the nano-particles are made of Fe2O3, whose colour is red.

The synthesis procedure is complex but when we finally collected our product. After annealing, our nano-particles become magnetic. Here is the test of their magnetism.

Compared to the blank group, bared MNPs shows advantages in helping cell growth, which is quit beyond our expectations. We suppose the magnetism may be of the reason but it needs further research. Basically, this means that MNP has no toxic to cancer cells.
Digoxin shows good potential in killing cancer cells which is expected. After digoxin connects to hexane diacid, it still has great ability in killing cells. MNPs with digoxins shows the most toxic in the test. We suppose it is because that MNPs can connect to more than one molecules of digoxin. But how many molecules of digoxin can bind to one MNP still needs researching. |
